A Broken Blade

A life marred with tragedy, Cornelia's was shattered the day Molag Bol, the Daedric Prince of Domination, destroyed the Imperial City. With the loss of her Emperor and of her kin, Cornelia spent the following years wallowing in sorrow as she drifted about seeking redemption and a purpose in her broken life. Now, after serving close to a year in the Decentius army, as a soldier on loan from her employer in Hammerfell sent to protect Sister Nautius, Cornelia has left her life as a noble's personal guard to rejoin the Legion. She has sworn a solemn oath of loyalty to Emperor-Regent Volund Decentius, Dominus of Spatharia.

Beginnings

Born into a military family within the Colovian Estates, Cornelia was the eldest of two sisters. Her youth was spent wielding a wooden sword and shield, and riding the family's horse. One year she was gifted a pair of ballet slippers. Surprising everyone, a young Cornelia was drawn towards the graceful motions of the dance. Later, as an adult, she incorporated such movements into her fighting style.

Second Legion

When of age, Cornelia enlisted in the Imperial army. It was a source of pride for herself and family when she joined the Second Legion. As a legionnaire, Cornelia served in a unit stationed in the Gold Coast under the command of sergeant Marcella Baelsar. She would serve with Baelsar throughout her time in the Imperial Legion.

Colovian Revolt

When Duke Varen Aquilarios marshaled his forces in response to Emperor Leovic's legalization of Daedric worship, as a member of the Second Legion, Cornelia fought in Varen's rebellion in the heartland of Cyrodiil. Cornelia was not only a willing participant of the rebellion but an eager one, viewing the Longhouse Emperors as illegitimate and heretics.

Falkreath Hold

After the defeat of Emperor Leovic, his allies the Icereach Coven were forced back to the Reach by the Second Legion in pursuit of them. The coven was tracked to Falkreath Hold where they fought battles to the north and west. The Legion saw major casualties on both fronts and the Optio ordered an immediate withdrawal back to the Jerall Mountains for further orders.

Desertion

After the apparent death of Emperor Varen and the Imperial City overrun by the Daedric forces of Molag Bal, Cornelia and her unit were last seen in Kvatch pledging their loyalty to Carolus Aquilarios, nephew to Varen Aquilarios. However the Count refused the mantle of Emperor. It was then Cornelia and a few of her cohorts buried their Second Legion weapons at a forge yard northwest of Anvil and went their separate ways.

Alik'r Desert

With the loss of her Emperor and of her kin, who had died in the Imperial City, Cornelia spent the following years wallowing in sorrow as she drifted about seeking redemption and a purpose in her broken life.At the behest of her brother-in-law, Cornelia traveled to Sentinel to serve as guard to Magnifica Carina Cabral, Tear of Hegathe.

Spatharia

At the beginning of the year 2E 590, under the orders of Lady Magnifica Carina, Cornelia traveled to the Colovian Highlands to a land known as Spatharia under the command of Dominus Volund Decentius. She was sent to protect Sister Mariana Nautius, a Priestess of Dibella and former confidant to the noblewoman.Dominus Decentius immediately put Cornelia into his army as a legionnaire. Her time with the Black Legion would be some of the most trying in recent memory and arguably the most traumatic as Cornelia was taken hostage by the forces of the Red Drake. On a scouting mission, Cornelia became the target of Reachmagic. It compelled her, against her will, to surrender to the forces at Gratian. They captured Cornelia and stripped her of her armor and weapons. After being interrogated, Cornelia was routinely and daily abused, tortured and humiliated.Eventually freed from captivity, Cornelia rejoined the Decentius army in their attack on the Red Drake forces in Ansburg. She participation in the capture of Romulus Castle and the town of Veraxia; witnessing the defeat of the Red Drake by Volund Decentius.

Present

Inspired by the battle tactics of a man who fought in the shield wall and knew when to withdraw and when to pursue, as well as the leadership qualities of Volund Decentius, Cornelia opted to join his army officially. With the death of her superior Quaestor Buccinator Amorian and for her actions during the Ansburg campaign, Cornelia was promoted to Quaestor of the Eighth Cohort. Then, after seeing the Spatharia campaign completed at the town of Septimania, Cornelia was given the honor of Centurion.

Marcella Baelsar - 'Sarge'

Her sergeant in the Second Legion, Marcella and Cornelia have been reunited under the banner of the Black Diamond. After the death of Emperor Varen, Cornelia and Marcella differed in their path. Sergeant Baelsar stayed with the unit, while Cornelia and a few cohorts left in the night to pledge alliance to Varen's nephew. It was then their lives diverted only to be reunited within the Black Legion. For her part, Cornelia harbors no resentment towards her former sergeant for the choices made.

Magnifica Carina Cabral, Tear of Hegathe

At the behest of her brother-in-law, Cornelia traveled to Hammerfell where she worked as a guard to Lady Magnifica Carina who in turn provided Cornelia with room and board. The noblewoman is appreciated in Cornelia's mind for never once making the former legionnaire commit unsavory acts of barbarity. It was honest work during a time in Cornelia's life where she struggled with deep-seated self-loathing.

Mariana Nautius, Domina

A thorn in her side, Cornelia finds the affectionate Priestess of Dibella to be insufferable. The pair met while serving Magnifica Carina Cabral. The Priestess tried to reach Cornelia, offering her friendship and comfort as they were both self-exiled from their homeland of Cyrodiil. Cornelia categorically rejected every effort Mariana made to bridge the gap between the two Imperials.

Buccinator Amorian, Quaestor

The only person who could possibly be called friend during Cornelia's time in Spatharia, Buccinator Amoria died before she was able to properly express her gratitude for his persistence when she was less than receptive to his intervention. After his sacrificial death in Gratian, Cornelia replaced him as Quaestor of the Eighth Cohort.Unfortunately the two would be reunited once more in Gratian, when Buccinator's undead corpse attacked her unit. It was she who finished the deed, ensuring his body would not rise again with a swift decapitation from her swirling axe.

Cadmor Bull-Horn - 'Reachfilth'

Cornelia possess a deeply rooted loathing for all Reachmen regarding them as nothing more than foul beasts, uncivilized barbarians unfit for society. After a brief hostile encounter between the pair, post-battle against the Red Drake's forces at Gratian, the two share a mutual dislike for each other, wishing to attack the other but serving in the Black Legion is all that has kept their blood lust at bay.

Volund Decentius, Dominus

Long had Cornelia sought a replacement for her fallen Emperor and seeking redemption and purpose in the wake of his death.Although far from the honorable Second Legion, Cornelia found Volund's methods and tactics on the battlefield sustainable and admirable enough to pledge her loyalty to the man.Still, at times, she finds him arrogant, contradicting his own orders and blinded by his own successes.

Caterina Aionos, Former Centurion

Cornelia views the Centurion in a neutral light which is likely the best one can hope for with her. She finds the Centurion stoic enough for the position and has thus far not issued any orders to create any moral conundrum for the Quaestor still on the mend from captivity and adjusting to her new life in Spatharia.

Falx Kuzmin - 'Twisted Helm'

A mutual hatred for each other, Cornelia only recognizes the man based on his helm. Although technically saved by him from further abuse and imprisonment at Gratian, it was only by forcing his hand that he agreed to take her with him; the two escaping the town under Red Drake control.

Ulrik Dragonsbane, Palatina

Once her subordinate, the former legionnaire surpassed Cornelia in rank and now serves within the Emperor-Regent's elite guard, the Palatina.Although well-meaning, Cornelia finds the man's eagerness to put himself in harms way to be reckless. While under her command, Cornelia noted he was quick to follow orders outside his direct chain of command. However, as he was promoted to Palatina, the issue was rendered moot.
